What the M&H Rio looks like

The M&H Rio has rolled scroll arms with buttoned outer faces, a button-tufted front rail and plump back cushions, raised on turned dark legs with brass caps. The tufting is kept to the arms and front, so the seat and back stay smooth, for a graceful, traditional look.

Choose the Rio 2 Seater, 3 Seater or 4 Seater for one straight run of seating, the 3+2 set for two separate sofas, or the L Shape, Convertible L Shape or Corner Sofa for seating that turns a corner.

Rio sizes and prices

Every Rio is 90 cm deep, with an 80 cm overall height and a 45 cm seat height, for a familiar, supportive sit across the range.

Straight sofa, 3+2, L shape or corner

The straight Rio sofas run 170, 200 and 230 cm, from the 2 Seater to the 4 Seater. The 3+2 set combines the 200 cm 3 Seater and 170 cm 2 Seater as two separate sofas, so you can place them opposite each other, at right angles or on separate walls.

The L Shape has a 250 × 180 cm footprint, with one longer run and a chaise. You choose Left Hand Facing or Right Hand Facing on the product page, and Left Hand Facing puts the chaise on your left as you stand facing the sofa. The Convertible L Shape adds a matching footstool that can sit beside the chaise for a wider lounging area. The Corner Sofa has two equal 250 cm sides, giving it a balanced layout across both adjoining walls.

Measure the room and delivery route

Mark the footprint where the sofa will sit, then check it against doors, radiators, other furniture and the paths people take through the room. The scrolled arms add presence, so leave a little breathing room at each end.

Four fabrics and free swatches

Every Rio comes in Plush Velvet, Chenille, Naple or Conistan. Plush Velvet makes the most of the buttoned arms and is the Rio fabric we list as a pet-friendly weave, tight-woven and easy to brush clean, while Chenille gives the traditional shape a softer, lived-in feel.

Colour and texture can look different under your own lighting, so order free fabric swatches and compare them where the sofa will sit, in daylight and in the evening.

Made to order in Yorkshire

Every Rio is handmade to order at our Yorkshire workshop, so we start making your sofa after you place your order with your chosen layout, fabric and colour. Delivery to mainland UK is free, and each product page shows the current lead time.

The sizes, fabrics and colours you can select on each product page are the standard Rio options. For a different length or a fabric outside the range, contact us before ordering and we will tell you what is possible.
