What the M&H Scarlet looks like

The M&H Scarlet has deep diamond buttoning across the back and over its wide, rounded arms, on the top, inside and outside. The arm fronts are left plain and framed by a gold-coloured metal leg that outlines each arm end and runs along the floor like a sled. Long plain seat cushions sit above a slim dark plinth, and together these details set the M&H Scarlet apart from other sofas sold under the Scarlet name.

Choose the Scarlet 1 Seater, 2 Seater, 3 Seater or 4 Seater for one straight run of seating, the 3+2 set for two separate sofas, or the L Shape or Corner Sofa for seating that turns a corner.

Scarlet sizes and prices

Every Scarlet is 90 cm deep and 80 cm high with a 45 cm seat height. The 3 Seater and 4 Seater are longer than in most of our ranges, at 229 cm and 290 cm, where most of our 3 seaters are 200 cm and most 4 seaters 240 cm.

As each M&H sofa is handmade, finished dimensions may vary slightly from the stated measurements as a result of normal manufacturing tolerances.

Straight sofa, 3+2, L shape or corner

The straight Scarlet sofas run 107, 168, 229 and 290 cm. The 3+2 set gives you the 229 cm 3 Seater and the 168 cm 2 Seater as two separate sofas, which you can face each other, set at right angles or place on separate walls.

The L Shape has a 290 × 160 cm footprint, with one long run and a chaise. You can order it Left Hand Facing or Right Hand Facing, and Left Hand Facing puts the chaise on your left as you stand facing the sofa. The Corner Sofa has an equal-sided 250 × 250 cm footprint.

Measure the room and delivery route

Mark the footprint where the sofa will sit, then check it against doors, radiators, other furniture and the paths people take through the room. The 4 Seater and the long side of the L Shape are both listed at 290 cm, so allow a little extra room rather than planning an exact 290 cm fit.

Next, measure the delivery route at its narrowest points, including doorways, hallways, stairs, landings, lifts and any tight turns. Check the turns as well as the openings along the route.

Fabrics, 44 colours and free swatches

Every Scarlet comes in Plush Velvet, Chenille, Naple or Conistan, and across those four fabrics the range is available in 44 colours. Scarlet is the name of the range rather than a colour, so you choose the shade separately on each product page. If a cat or dog will share the sofa, Plush Velvet is the Scarlet fabric we list as a pet-friendly weave.

Colour and texture can look different under your own lighting, so order free fabric swatches and compare them where the sofa will sit, in daylight and in the evening.

Scarlet or Majestic?

The M&H Majestic shares the Scarlet's sizes, prices and gold-coloured sled-frame legs. The clearest difference is the upholstery, as the Scarlet is diamond-buttoned across the back and arms, while the Majestic has vertical channel tufting.

The Scarlet comes in four fabrics and 44 colours. The Majestic adds Teddy/Bouclé and Jumbo Cord, for six fabrics and 54 colours, so start there if you want one of those two fabrics.

Made to order in Yorkshire

Every Scarlet is handmade to order at our Yorkshire workshop, so we start making your sofa after you place your order with your chosen layout, fabric and colour. All seven layouts currently have a lead time of 21 to 25 days, and delivery to mainland UK is free.

The sizes, fabrics and colours you can select on each product page are the standard Scarlet options. For a different length or a fabric outside the range, contact us before ordering and we will tell you what is possible.
