What the MH Somerset looks like

The MH Somerset has a relaxed, lounge-style look, with plain upholstery and no buttoning or tufting. Wide, low arms with softly rounded edges frame a row of oversized plump back cushions and long, deep seat cushions, and the sofa sits on a plain base with small, barely visible feet. Together, these details help identify the M&H Somerset among the different sofas sold under the Somerset name.

Choose the MH Somerset 1 Seater, Loveseat, 2 Seater or 3 Seater for one straight run of seating, the 3+2 set for two separate sofas, or the L Shape or Corner Sofa for seating that turns a corner.

MH Somerset sizes and prices

Every MH Somerset is 90 cm deep and 90 cm high, with a 65 cm arm height and a 45 cm seat height. The 152 cm 2 Seater, 180 cm 3 Seater and 212 × 164 cm L Shape are among the more compact M&H options. Most of our 3 seaters are 200 cm long, while most of our L shapes are around 250 cm long with a 150 to 180 cm return.

As each M&H sofa is handmade, finished dimensions may vary slightly from the stated measurements as a result of normal manufacturing tolerances.

Straight sofa, 3+2, L shape or corner

The straight MH Somerset sofas run 110, 130, 152 and 180 cm, from the 1 Seater through the Loveseat to the 3 Seater. The 3+2 set combines the 180 cm 3 Seater and 152 cm 2 Seater as two separate sofas, so you can place them opposite each other, at right angles or on separate walls.

The L Shape has a 212 × 164 cm footprint, with one longer run and a chaise. You can order it Left Hand Facing or Right Hand Facing, and Left Hand Facing puts the chaise on your left as you stand facing the sofa. The Corner Sofa has two equal 245 cm sides, so there is no left or right hand to choose.

Measure the room and delivery route

Mark the footprint where the sofa will sit, then check it against doors, radiators, other furniture and the paths people take through the room.

Next, measure the delivery route at its narrowest points, including doorways, hallways, stairs, landings, lifts and any tight turns. Measure the usable clear opening of each doorway with the door fully open.

Every MH Somerset comes in Plush Velvet, Teddy/Bouclé, Jumbo Cord, Chenille, Naple or Conistan, and across those six fabrics the range is available in 54 colours. On the MH Somerset product pages, Plush Velvet is labelled a pet-friendly weave.

Colour and texture can look different under your own lighting, so order free fabric swatches and compare them where the sofa will sit, in daylight and in the evening.

Made to order in Yorkshire

Every MH Somerset is handmade to order at our Yorkshire workshop, so we start making your sofa after you place your order with your chosen layout, fabric and colour. Delivery to mainland UK is free, and each product page shows the current lead time.

The sizes, fabrics and colours you can select on each product page are the standard MH Somerset options. For a different length or a fabric outside the range, contact us before ordering and we will tell you what is possible.
