A corner sofa creates a connected seating area with two matching sides, making it a practical choice for family rooms, open-plan spaces and larger lounges.

Unlike an L-shaped sofa, which usually combines a longer sofa section with a chaise return, M&H corner sofas use an equal-sided footprint. This gives them a more balanced layout where both sides of the sofa are designed to work together.

Find the right corner sofa size

Corner sofas are not one standard size. The overall footprint affects how the sofa works in your room, which is why every M&H design has its own published measurements.

Left hand or right hand corner sofa: which do you need?

Neither. No corner sofa in this collection is sold as handed, because all 21 designs are published with runs of equal length.

Most of the market works differently. A handed corner sofa has one long side and one short one, so you commit to the side the corner sits on at checkout. Get it wrong and the sofa blocks the door it was meant to sit beside.

The terms are not even used consistently across UK furniture retailers. Some define the hand by where the shorter section falls, some by the longer one, and some describe it from a seated position rather than from standing in front of the sofa. The same two words describe two different sofas depending on whose website you are reading, which makes it one of the easiest mistakes to carry through to checkout and one of the most expensive on a sofa built to order.

If the return side matters in your room a radiator along one wall, a bay along the other tell us the design and which wall you are working to, and we will confirm how that sofa is built before you order. A square footprint tells you the floor area needed. It does not by itself prove every detail of a given design is reversible, and we would rather check than assume.

Which corner sofa fits your room

A corner sofa is chosen on floor area, not on the word in front of its name. Small and large are shopping terms, they carry no fixed measurement, and they shift meaning with every retailer.

Across this collection the two smallest designs are Clara and Amelia; the three largest are MH Windsor, Majestic and Scarlet. Everything else sits between them, and the whole collection spans 15cm from smallest to largest along each run  less than most people expect.

Fifteen centimetres still decides things. Roughly a radiator, or the difference between a door that opens fully and one that catches.

Tape the shape out on your floor before you order anything. Then open the doors into that space, walk the line people actually take across the room, and pull out any drawer or cupboard door that lands inside the tape. A corner sofa passes or fails on what happens around it.

Published corner sofa dimensions

Every M&H corner sofa publishes its own measurements: twenty-one designs, twenty-one sets of figures, each read off that design's own product page. No category average, nothing extrapolated from a sample.

All measurements in centimetres, and all of them describe the finished sofa from the outside. They will not tell you how much cushion you get to sit on.

As each M&H sofa is handmade, finished dimensions may vary slightly from the published measurements as a result of normal manufacturing tolerances.

Two things in that table are worth pulling out. Chelsea Line is the low one. It sits 5cm below every other design at the seat and is the only one here under 70cm tall, which suits a room with a low window sill and suits tall people less. Depth varies too, which catches people out. Three designs come in under the 90cm that the other eighteen share  Charlotte and MH Theo by a full 10cm, Romeo by half that. Where a walkway runs along the front of the sofa, those centimetres are the walkway.

Arm height is published on six of the 21 designs and not on the other fifteen, so we have left it out rather than fill the column with estimates. If arm height is what decides it for you  you are matching an existing side table, or you want to lie down on it  tell us the design and we will get the measurement from the workshop before you order.

Getting a corner sofa into the room

Fitting a corner sofa into the room and getting it as far as the room are two separate problems, and the second is where a corner sofa behaves unlike anything else we build.

A three-seater is one long object. It goes through a door or it does not, and you can usually tell by measuring the opening. A corner unit is a longer object that also has to change direction. The tight point is rarely the front door. It is the turn at the bottom of the stairs, the half-landing, or the pivot from hallway into living room, where the piece has to rotate through an angle rather than slide straight on. Anyone who has stood at the bottom of a staircase shouting instructions at the other end of a sofa already knows this is the part that goes wrong.

So measure two things, not one: the tightest gap anywhere on the route, and the room you have to pivot in when you reach it.

Three figures would make that easy and we do not hold them yet  how deep the sofa is corner-to-corner on the diagonal, how big it is once wrapped, and whether the corner section separates. Publishing a single doorway number without them would be a guess dressed up as a specification, and it would be wrong for some of these.

So we do it the other way round. Send the design you are looking at, along with what you have measured  a door, a stair turn, a landing, a lift  and we will work it through against the drawings and tell you before you place the order, not after.

That check matters more here than on any other page, because the 30-Day Comfort Trial covers faults, not sizing. If a sofa arrives and the room turns out to be wrong, that is not what the trial is for. Ten minutes with a tape measure now is cheaper than finding out on delivery day.

Corner sofa or L shape sofa?

A corner sofa and an L shape sofa are two different products at M&H, not two names for one. Different footprints, sold separately  even though most of the market treats the words as interchangeable.

Every one of the 21 designs on this page is also built as an L shape. Take MH Lily:

Same range. Same fabrics. Two different shapes on your floor. The corner gives you two equal runs; the L shape gives you one long run and a shorter return, which is usually the better answer when one wall is broken up by a door, a chimney breast or a radiator.

Choose on the measurements against your actual room. The word is not the decision.

A note on corner chaise sofa, since people search for it: a chaise is an extended open-ended seat, and M&H does not build or list one. What you see here are full corner units.

Which fabrics each corner sofa carries

Six upholstery families run across the corner sofa collection. Naple and Conistan are the two constants; Plush Velvet, Chenille, Jumbo Cord and Teddy/Bouclé come and go by design. No single design offers all six by default, and the count in the table above is the number available on that one.

Naple and Conistan are on all 21 designs. Plush Velvet and Chenille are on 20  Jumbo Cord is the one design that carries neither. Nine carry the full six: MH Serenity, MH Somerset, Aaron, Clara, Romeo, MH Luxury, Chelsea Line, Majestic and Oliver.

Jumbo Cord is both a fabric and a design name here, which trips people up. The Jumbo Cord Corner Sofa is a design, upholstered in Jumbo Cord, Naple or Conistan. Jumbo Cord as a fabric is offered on ten designs in all. Go by what the product page offers you, not by what the design is called.

Velvet or cord on a corner sofa?

The two fabrics buyers ask about by name, and the honest difference is in the construction rather than in any durability claim.

Plush Velvet has a short, dense pile with very little for a claw or a nail to catch on. Jumbo Cord is a ribbed weave: the channels are what give it the look, and the same channels hold crumbs, pet hair and dust until you go along them with a brush. On a corner sofa that matters more than on a two-seater, because there is simply more surface and one interior corner that nobody vacuums.

Both photograph almost identically on a screen and feel nothing alike in the hand. Order free fabric swatches before you commit. It is the only part of this decision that costs nothing to get wrong.

Corner sofa price and size do not move together

Corner sofa price and corner sofa size come apart completely in this collection. MH Windsor is one of the three largest designs here and also one of the cheapest; Majestic and Scarlet share its footprint exactly and cost £919.01 more.

The gap buys design and detailing. It does not buy floor area. Clara and Amelia are the two smallest designs here, and neither is among the six cheapest  Amelia sits in the upper half of the price list, Clara in the middle of it. Size is not the variable.

So if space is your constraint, work from the dimensions table. If budget is, start with the six designs under £999 and check the footprint second.

Corner sofas are made to order, not bespoke

Every corner sofa on this page is built after the order is placed. That still does not make it bespoke.

If you can pick it on screen  size, fabric, colour, configuration  it is a standard choice, even though no fabric is cut until the order lands. Two requests fall outside that. Contact M&H if you require a different sofa length or a fabric outside the standard offered range.

What the 10-year frame warranty covers

Every M&H corner sofa carries a 10-year commercial warranty on the internal frame.

The remedy under a covered claim is replacement of the affected covered part. Electrical components and sofa mechanisms fall outside it. The cover is on the frame, so it is worth reading it as what it is rather than as a guarantee on the whole sofa.
